official certification for an independent production fund
The Quebec English-language Production Council is celebrating landmark milestone: securing official certification for an independent production fund dedicated exclusively to linguistic minorities, both English-speaking in Quebec and French-speaking across Canada. What makes this achievement truly remarkable is the spirit behind it. For the first time, English-speaking minorities in Quebec and French-speaking minorities outside Quebec have come together with a shared purpose: recognizing that their aspirations, and their stories are deeply connected.
This historic achievement, led by lawyer and QEPC member, Stéphane Moraille, and the invaluable support of key partners including the Association des producteurs francophones du Canada, establishes a vital and long-overdue precedent for production funding focused on linguistic minority communities. While funding is not yet in place, this certification creates a powerful and permanent pathway: one that will support future projects, amplify underrepresented voices, and strengthen the fabric of our sector for generations to come.
